Help Please!

Hi everyone! I need your help. Posted to the left is a picture of a sock I've started with Wildfoote Elderberry yarn. It's the BabyFern 12stitch pattern repeat from More Sensational socks. I don't like it. I think the pattern is lost with this colorway. I showed the sock to a girl at work and she agreed. What I need help with is suggestions. What pattern would you suggest for this yarn/colorway??? I prefer to knit cuff down with a heel flap/turn. I have both Sensational and More Sensational sock books. I would really love to find a pattern to do this colorway justice. This is the second time I've started a sock with it. Thanks in advance for your suggestions!

What about the Moss Stitch Cables? Or Garter Rib, which may seem a bit plain but always comes out fantastic.

I did a garter rib for a pair of socks for my dad in a very dark grey, which came out very nice. Right now I'm knitting the crossover rib on page 37 of Sensational Knitted Socks, in a light blue/beige yarn (Regia summer yarn). I cast on with this yarn about 5 times, trying to find a stitch pattern that didn't get lost - all the simple knit/purl combinations didn't show. In the end I settled on crossover rib but I think it would work best for a light coloured yarn. Your yarn is much darker, which I think would suit a simple knit/purl rib.

The photo doesn't show up so well on my monitor. Is the problem that the color is too dark to show the pattern? If so, I'd suggest one of the lacy patterns, unless this is for a man. I have a dark yarn and am having the same problem. I just haven't gotten around to choosing pattern.

How about Crosshatch Lace? I did it in Rose Quartz, nearly solid. there really doesn't look like there is too much going on with that colorway.

You can see mine on my blog.

I agree with the garter rib recommendation. It looks great in darker colors and is an easy knit.
