I haven't got a pair of socks picture but I took my book to Kinkos and had them spiral bind the book so it lays flat! It sure makes it easier to follow the patterns.

What a great idea! Was it expensive to do?
I did the same thing with my copy also, doesn't it make it so much easier? I paid $4.00 cdn for mine, not bad at all for making it more user friendly.
