Oriel Completed

These are the Oriel socks from the book. I used some Lana Grossa Meilenweit yarn. I cast on with the Turkish cast on. I found I had a bit of a problem figuring out how the heel is constructed. I don't know if I missed something when I read the book or not but I just didn't get it right away. On the whole I like the socks but I don't know if I would use this construction again. Now I want to try other socks from the book, if I could just find the time.

They look great. I just cast on for a pair of Oriels. I think the heel flap looks interesting as I don't really care for how other heels fit, so we'll see.

They look great. I finished a pair of Oriels last summer & love them. The heel fits my feet really well & it's now my preferred method (I hate short row heels). I did a photo montage of their construction as it puzzled me when I first read it:

I'm now making a pair of socks for my DH & am being brave doing both at once toe up. I've also used this heel method again & turned it last night.
